CCC plans a Luncheon on the Hill
The Canadian Caregiver Coalition (CCC) in partnership with the Canadian Cancer Society will host a luncheon on May 7th on parliament hill for all MPs and senators in an effort to draw attention to the contribution and needs of family caregivers in Canada. Recognition is an important step to initiating action to providing meaningful support for the 5 million family caregivers across the country. CCC asks its partners and interested stakeholders to call and/or meet their MP to ask them to attend the luncheon in order to learn more about the needs of family caregivers.
HRSDC Call for Proposals a Social Development Partnerships Program (SDPP)
The SDPP is currently inviting proposals for contribution funding that support Canadian families, children/youth and other vulnerable populations. There are three specific funding priorities for the Children and Families 2009 Call for Proposals: Priority 1: Supporting children/youth and families ; Priority 2: Caregiving over the life course ; Priority 3: Strengthening not-for-profit organizations . CCC Begins Consultations on Framework for a Canadian Caregiver Strategy
In December 2008, the CCC released A Framework for a Canadian Caregiver Strategy. The framework shows how all parts of society including the public and private sectors must work together to help achieve the vision for family caregiving in Canada. Formal consultations with stakeholders will take place over the spring. Interested parties are invited to download the document at the link below and submit comments to the CCC.
