The Third Age Centre invites you to attend its first presentation of the program year titled: "Facing Alzheimer's Disease".

In September of last year the Third Age Centre sponsored a very interesting and educational presentation by Dr. William Reichman, CEO of Baycrest Centre, Toronto. Many of those in attendance have requested an opportunity to hear him speak again so we have invited him to come back and he said "yes". Dr. Reichman is an internationally renowned expert in geriatric mental health and dementia, and is the director of the Baycrest Center which is focused on aging, brain functioning and mental health and which is affiliated with the University of Toronto Medical School. He will be with us on Thursday, September 10 at 2 pm. This time he will talk about "Causes of Alzheimer's Disease".

As well, we have invited a second expert on caring for, and communicating with, people with early stage Alzheimer's disease. Dr. Krystyna Klodnicka Kouri is from Sherbrooke and is affiliated with the Maimonides Geriatric Centre in Montreal. Dr. Kouri's research has been on caregiver education in the context of dementia and skills acquisition by those caregivers. Her presentation is titled "Early Stage Care: A Focus on Communication".
